갤러리신라 대구에서는 "붉은 모노크롬 (Red Monochrome)" 작업과 "Fire Painting" 작업으로 널리 알려진 프랑스 현대미술작가 베르나르 오베르탱 (Bernard Aubertin, 1934-2015)의 개인전을 개최합니다.
베르나르 오베르탱은, 1934년 프랑스 Fontenay-aux-Roses 에서 태어나 2015년 작고 전까지 로이틀링겐(독일)에 거주하며 작업하였다. 1957년 이브 클라인 (Yves Klein)과의 첫 만남은, 그의 작업을 유물론적 절대주의 방향으로 이끈 결정적 계기였다. 그는 이브 클라인 (Yves Klein,1928-1962) 과 매우 가까운 Heinz Mack, Otto Piene 및 Günther Uecker가 1959년에 결성한 뒤셀도르프의 독일 Zero그룹에 1961년에 합류하였다. 이 Zero 그룹의 예술가들은 모두 단색을 선호하였으며, 모든 주관성에서 벗어나 작품의 공간을 결정적인 요소로 생각하였다.
베르나르 오베르탱의 작업 중 가장 중요한 작업은 ‘붉은색(red)’의 Monochrome작업일 것이다. 그가 생각한 붉은색은 예술가에게 생명의 상징인 피와 활활 타는 열정을 보여주는 불의 개념을 반영하는 색상이다. 그는 붉은 모노크롬(단색)의 작품을 시작으로 하여 ‘회화와 에너지의 관계’에 대한 탐구를 통해 회화속에 내재되어 나타나는 에너지를 보여주고자 평생 노력하였다. 그는 붉은 색상이 자기의 내재된 내적 에너지를 확산시키는 데 가장 적합한 색상이라고 생각하였다. 이런 아이디어는 성냥개비를 캔버스에 붙이고, 불(화재)을 내는 전위적인 작품과, 그것이 타고 남은 재를 연상시키는 블랙 색상의 모노크롬까지 확대되었다.
이번 갤러리 신라 전시에서는 그의 대표 작품인 붉은 모노크롬작업을 포함하여, 90년대, 2000년대, 그리고 작가가 작고한 2015년의 엄선된 주황색, 금색, 검정색, 회색 모노크롬 작업 30여점이 갤러리신라 대구의 공간에 최초로 선보일 예정입니다.

Gallery Shilla Daegu is hosting a solo exhibition of French contemporary artist Bernard Aubertin (1934-2015), who is widely known for his "Red Monochrome" and "Fire Painting" works.
Bernard Aubertin was born in 1934 in Fontenay-aux-Roses, France, and lived and worked in Reutlingen (Germany) until his death in 2015. His first meeting with Yves Klein in 1957 was decisive in steering his work in the direction of materialist absolutism. In 1961 he joined the German Zero group in D_sseldorf, founded in 1959 by Heinz Mack, Otto Piene and G_nther Uecker, who were very close to Yves Klein (1928-1962). The artists of the Zero group all preferred monochromatic colors and considered the space of the work as the decisive factor, free
from all subjectivity.
Perhaps the most important of Bernard Aubertin's works are his monochrome works in the color red. For him, red was a color that reflected the concept of blood, a symbol of life for the artist, and fire, a symbol of roaring passion. Beginning with his red monochrome works, he made a lifelong effort to show the energy inherent in his paintings through his exploration of the relationship between painting and energy. He believed that red was the best color to diffuse his own inherent inner energy. This idea was extended to his avant-garde works in which he glued matchsticks to the canvas and set them on fire, as well as his monochromes in black that evoked the ashes left behind.
Including his signature red monochrome works, the exhibition will showcase 30 selected orange, gold, black, and gray monochrome works from the 90s, 2000s, and 2015, the year of the artist's death, for the first time at Gallery Shilla Daegu.
