갤러리 신라 대구에서는 오는 2022년 9월 1일부터 10월 15일까지 「모노하와 태도들」(Mono-ha and Attitudes)展을 개최합니다.
이번 전시는 같은 제목의 다자연구서 『Mono-ha and Attitudes』의 출간을 알리고 소개하기 위하여 개최되며, 국내에서 출판되는 다자연구서로서 첫 출판이라는데 의의가 있다. 국내외 젊은 연구자들이 주축이 되어 기획된 본 연구서는 모노하가 가지고 있는 인문학적 가치와 문제의식을 공유하는 작가를 비롯하여 미술사, 예술철학, 비평계의 연구자들이 모여 구성한 연구서이다. 출판은 2022년 10월말로 예정하고 있으며, 모노하에 대한 태도를 오늘날의 시점에서 이해, 점검하고 우리의 미학과 예술에 대한 태도를 찾아가고자 하는 데에 주된 목적을 두고 있다.
모노하(もの派)는 이우환 작가가 주도한 일본의 예술 운동으로, 돌, 철판, 유리, 전구, 면, 스펀지, 종이,나무, 철사, 밧줄, 가죽, 기름, 물과 같은 자연재료와 공업재료와의 일상적 만남을 탐구하고, 있는 그대로의 상태로 공간과 상황에 재배치하는 세밀한 작업을 해왔다. 이들은 전통적인 예술방법론들을 재고하고 동시대 작가들을 비판적으로 바라보며 이들에 대한 대안으로 일상에서 조우하는 사람들과 사물들과의 관계에서 예술의 가능성을 타진하였다. 모노하는 60년대 말부터 태동한 후 동아시아를 넘어 현재까지도 세계 현대미술계에서도 빼놓을 수 없는 주요 예술 운동으로 인식되고 있으며, 이런 영향으로 최근 해외에서도 끊임없이 모노하를 동아시아 현대미술의 주요 사조로 소개하고 있다.
이번 전시의 출품작가는 모노하의 태동 이전부터 모노하에 대한 중요한 개념을 제시하여 후배들에게 귀감이 되었던 곽인식과 모노하 작가와 작품에 대한 깊은 성찰과 비평을 통해 모노하의 이론적 토대를 마련한 이우환을 필두로, 나리타 가츠히코, 세키네 노부오,키시오 스가 의 모노하 작가들, 모노하 작가들에게 지대한 영향을 끼친 다카마츠 지로, 그리고 모노하를 해석한 비평가이자 작가인 조셉 러브(-Joseph Love)의 작품이 모노하에 대한 아카이브 자료와 함께 전시될 예정이다.
이번 전시에서는 키시오 스가의 90년대 드로잉, 조각 작품과 세키네 노부오의 금지화작업, 다카미츠 지로와 이우환의 판화, 곽인식의 60년대, 70년대, 80년대 작품이 각각 출품되며, 대형 숯 작업으로 전 세계 현대미술계에서 인지도를 높인 가츠히코 나리타의 숯 연작 드로잉 10여 점이 출품될 예정이다.

Gallery Shilla Daegu will hold 「Mono-ha and Attitudes」 from September 1st to October 15th, 2022.
This exhibition is held to inform and introduce the publication of 『Mono-ha and Attitudes』, a multilateral research book with the same title, which is significant in that it is the first publication of a multilateral research book published in Korea. This study, which was planned with young researchers at home and abroad as the main axis, is a research book composed by researchers in art history, art philosophy, and criticism, as well as artists who share the humanistic values and critical mind that Mono-ha has. The publication is scheduled to be at the end of October 2022 with the main purpose to understand and check the attitude toward mono-ha from today's point of view and find our attitude toward aesthetics and art.
Mono-ha is a Japanese art movement led by artist U Fan Lee, which combines natural and industrial materials such as stone, iron plate, glass, light bulb, cotton, sponge, paper, wood, wire, rope, leather, oil, and water. It has been focusing on detailed work that explores everyday encounters and rearranging them in spaces and situations as they are. It reconsidered traditional art methodologies, looked critically at contemporary artists, and as an alternative to them, explored the possibilities of art in the relationship between people and objects encountered in daily life. Since its birth in the late 1960s, Mono-ha has been recognized as an indispensable major art movement in the global contemporary art world beyond East Asia.
The participating artists in this exhibition include Quac In Sik, who presented important concepts of Mono-ha even before the birth of Mono-ha and served as an example to his juniors, and Lee U-fan, who laid the theoretical foundation for Mono-ha through deep reflection and criticism on Mono-ha artists and works. Mono-ha writers Katsuhiko, Sekine Nobuo, Kishio Suga, Takamatsu Jiro, who had a great influence on Mono-ha writers, and Joseph Love, a critic and writer who interpreted Mono-ha, along with archive materials about Mono-ha will be exhibited.
In this exhibition, Kishio Suga's drawings and sculptures from the 1990s, Sekine Nobuo's gold paintings, Takamitsu Jiro and Lee U Fan's prints, Quac In Sik's works from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s will be exhibited. About 10 charcoal drawings by Katsuhiko Narita, who has raised awareness in the contemporary art world will be exhibited.
